The project
Helping Wellington City Council become more efficient, customer-centric, and consistent — creating experiences that make it easy for everyone in Pōneke to get things done.
I joined early in a new programme of work to build out a component library with a strong focus on accessibility, ensuring all of Pōneke could complete council tasks with ease and get back to enjoying the sun. Working with stakeholders, we aimed to create truly forgettable experiences — so intuitive and effortless that users barely noticed the interface at all. I leaned into established conventions to make everything feel familiar for a wide range of users.
The same library also powered the creation of an authenticated customer portal, Whakatutuki — the council’s first step toward offering deeper, more connected digital experiences. So far, we’ve delivered three services that help bring customers and council closer together.
